A wonderful man to all that knew him. A wicked sense of humour that bought joy to many people’s lives and the biggest heart where nothing was too much trouble and he would give his all for anyone. Although it has been some time since we had regular contact with Henk and Carol and family we have such fond and special memories of the years in South Gippsland when we shared so much of our life journey with them from 1986 into the 2000s. Henk will always have a special place in our hearts. He was a Godly man of immense integrity, big-hearted and couldn’t do enough to help or encourage but also with a great sense of humour. Henk and Carol were a team in every aspect of life and Henk with Carol have blessed so many people. Henk also wasn’t afraid to challenge others to think matters of faith through and take a biblical stand. Now in glory. Carol and family – our hearts are breaking for you all as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. May the Lord give you His peace, strength and comfort. We first met Hank on the North Rd, when he wound down the car window and greeted us with a big broad welcoming smile, a glint in his eye, and asked us how we “the city slickers” were going. So began a wonderful and lasting friendship with Hank and Carol, that we are truly grateful for. Like so many others we too were blessed by his willingness to help, in our case as annoying pretend farmer neighbours. Hank, we will miss you so much. We could say so many things but I think Miriam summed it up when I told her the sad news and she said “that’s so sad, Hank was the best”. Hank you were the best! Dear Carol and family please accept our deepest condolences at such a time that we didn’t see coming. Such a shock and there we were waiting for a good time to catch up again. We have very fond memories of you and Hank at Lawsons Rd dairy and paddocks and the many chats and fun times. Max remembers Hank so fondly and of the times he had to run him to school when he missed the bus again! Ross recalls whiling away the time chatting and laughing when they both should’ve been getting their cows in those sunny afternoons. It has been our joy and privilege to have known Hank. A man who truly love God and His people. Every time we met him, he reflected the joy of the Lord. Whatever he decided to do was done only for the glory of God. He was prepared and ready for his home call. He must have heard his Master and Lord say: “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord”. It was obvious to us that he loved his family and the family of God. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
