Dear Nancy, Keith and Ian, I am sad to read this news today and pray for you in your sadness at not having Shirley to visit again. I had a super excited phone call with her not so long ago. I will join you on 20th as I remember Shirley with great fondness of our days of work and adventure in Thailand and at her home in Gippsland with even a journey to Tasmania one time. I am glad that Shirley is now fully “at Home”. Georgie

May 16, 2024I was pleased to meet Shirley at the Drouin Presbyterian Church in the 2000s. She also was concerned about social questions and we exchanged books and DVDs. She was very faithful in her support of the Drouin Presbyterian Womens Missionary Union. I enjoyed visiting her at Korumburra – not as often as I could have. Her straight forward and sincere faith in Jesus was always an encouragement and challenge. It is lovely to think that she is now “fully at home”.

I cannot express enough what a privilege it is to be Shirley’s friend, I am so grateful for her presence in my life. She was so sincere in all she did and she was such a positive influence in my life I will miss her but I know she has just begun the great adventure with her Lord Jesus. As we say in The Salvation Army, she has been promoted to glory! I thank God for her life and pray that you her family will know Gods peace at this time. God bless and keep you in His loving care.

Simone van GaalenCondolences to the family. I have so many memories of time spent with Shirley both at Dandenong Baptist, Christian Coffee Shops and youth exchange weekends. It was a privilege to show hospitality to Shirley when she visited me here in Brisbane a number of years ago and then to catch up at a church reunion in 2015. What a reunion it will be when we all get to Heaven.

May 20, 2024Lovely memories of good times with Shirley during the time she taught at ChiangMai International School. Glad our son could be in her third grade class, and that we enjoyed fun and fellowship with her for those 5 years, including her many visits out to McKean leprosy centre. Thank you for making it possible for me to watch Shirley’s funeral service online as I was unable to make the trip to Drouin. I was grateful for this as her life was blessing to me in my teenage years at Dandenong Baptist Youth.
I lived on a Dairy farm out of Dandenong and Shirley often drove me home after Youth events to help my parents until I got my licence. I remember her driving me home after a Cliff Richards concert very late at night. Then she had drive back to Dandenong. Thanks Shirley for all those rides in your car they were very much appreciated and your commitment to the youth and young adults at Dandy Baps.
As a family may the Lord comfort you at this sad time and bless you with His peace.
Heather Evans/nee Gardiner. To the Dawes Family,
Condolences on the passing of a treasured soul, gone to her eternal rest. Shirley was a dear friend who taught my children when they were poppets. Zephaniah 3:17
